03 Aug Andalusian olive oil exports recovered

Andalusian olive oil exports reached 852 million euros in the first four months of 2021, according to data compiled by the Office of Export and Foreign Investment of the Government of Andalusia (Extenda). This is an increase of 22.5% from last year. Of these, 63% are Extra Virgin, which underlines the desire of Spanish manufacturers to produce products of the highest quality.

The autonomous community was originally expected to produce almost 1.4 million tons, but this figure was lowered to 1.1 million after a hot and dry autumn, followed by a record cold winter, affected the groves.
In the first four months of 2021, 75 percent of all Spanish exports in value terms came from Andalusia. These are record figures in terms of total cost and profit. After a difficult year marked by both climate uncertainty and the Covid-19 pandemic, Extenda data showed that the olive oil sector in the autonomous community has recovered.

In the first four months of 2021, 392 companies exported olive oil abroad, an increase of almost 10%. Of these, 257 companies have been continuously exporting olive oil for more than 4 years.
