23 Feb How did olive oil appear in Russia
Do you like sprats? If you lived under the USSR, then you probably love the memories of sprats and agree that they are not the same now. Do you know what the secret is? The unique taste of this product was achieved precisely thanks to the olive oil, which was poured into the coveted jar from the heart! Bay leaf and black pepper peas were added there.
Most of our citizens tried olive oil only in the 90s. In fact, it was also in the USSR in the so-called “Kremlin rations”, as well as as a marinade for sprats and other canned fish (now it is sunflower oil), very rarely in open sale. Then it was called “Provence oil” and brought from France, respectively. After him, a little Greek oil got to the Soviet market. It was only in the 90s that a competitive market for olive oils and table olives appeared in the new state, Olive Line International was one of the first suppliers in 1993. Olives and olive oil became popular with us quickly, and now the demand for our products is huge.
