The cold-pressed olive oil contains many useful substances, scientists discover more and more new ones every year. Olive oil is known to have anti-inflammatory properties. It turns out that daily consumption of quality olive oil can reduce the severity and slow down the progression of psoriasis.
Psoriasis affects 1 to 3 percent of the population. This unpleasant skin disease is chronic, so it is very important to have a tool that will ensure a high quality of life and will not allow the problem to worsen. The answer, it turns out, is simple – proper nutrition, which improves metabolism.
“The Mediterranean diet is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish and olive oil. These products contain a significant amount of components with anti-inflammatory properties, such as dietary fiber and antioxidants,” says Celine Fan of Creteil University in an interview. He added that the prevention of psoriasis with such nutrition has not been proven, but it is definitely an option to alleviate the condition of a patient who already has any degree of this disease.
