Bread in Spain is used in large quantities. There are also different options of flat cakes. Some of them sweet are also a dessert, some replace bread. Different regions of the country brag who has flat cakes tastier. In Castile and Leon and in particular in the cities of Peñafiel and Aranda del Duero grain flat cakes with olive oil have 60 cm a diameter, and are 8-10 cm thick!
We will try to make the Andalusian sweet flat cake with olive oil and milk. It is classics of confectionery of Spain.
1 glass of 100% of olive oil
1 glass of sugar
3 glasses of flour
2 teaspoons of yeast
1 glass of milk
1 teaspoon of sesame
1 tablespoon of fruits of an anise
12 almonds for decoration
We warm up olive oil on a frying pan, we put an anise there and we leave to cool down. Let’s knead dough from flour and eggs, gradually adding sugar there. Then we mix into dough the cooled olive oil, with an anise, milk, flour, yeast. Further we spread dough for a baking sheet, we give the form of round flat cake. Pieces of almonds (or the whole nuts) and sesame is scattered from above and we bake in an oven half an hour at a temperature of 180 degrees.
